According to an ancient Myth,Goa was created by the great saint Parshuram who shot an arrow into the Arabian sea,commanding the water to part.In 1498 Portuguese explorer Vasco-Da-Gama first set foot in India.Goa along with Daman and Diu become a part of an Indian Republic in 1961 and was accorded the status of full fledged Indian state in 1989.

Vasco Da Gama (also called Vasco) is also called Goa's salient industrial area. It is a densely populated city with ts rail head , airport and port all in close radius.


The Dabolim airport,Mormugoa Port,the state's biggest naval base, and a geometrically planned road network has given Vasco its metropolis status.

Presently a major part of vasco's population comprises immigrant from neighboring states.Lured by the prspects of employment in Vasco's iron-ore and barge-building yards,many flock here but not everyone has story to narrate.Vasco being an industrial and commercial place is full of the hum of a city on move.

 

How to reach Vasco

To reach Vasco Da Gama,you can take a taxi from Dabolim airport,Vasco station(1km),Margao station(28km)and Panaji(32km).Vasco is directly connected to major Indian cities by flights,through roads and rails.Cruise liners also dock here occasionally,bringing in foreign tourists.
