Agra is famous as being home to one of the seven wonders of the world - TAJ MAHAL.  | This immortal poem in white marble is the finest expression of love of an emperor for his queen. The Taj Mahal, 3 Km from the Mall, is on the bank of the river Yamuna. It was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved queen Mumtaz Mahal in 1631.

Built by emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D., this Fort is a masterpieece of design and construction. Within the Fort are a number of exquisite building, including the Moti Masjid, Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas and Musamman Burj, where Emperor Shah Jahan had died in imprisonment. Jahangir's Palace, Khaas Mahal and Shees Mahal are the other important monuments inside the fort.

 | Welcome to the city of Akbar's dreams, Fatehpur Sikri, 37 Km. west of Agra. The red sandstone minarets of this magnificent deserted city pierce the blue sky and offer the visitors a steady stream of surprises.

This is the first notable building that the visitor sees on his right hand side at the end of a spacious lawn, as one enters through the Amar Singh Gate and emerges out of the passage. It was built by Akbar as women's quarters ans is the only building that susvives among his original palace buildings.

 | Itmad-ud-Daulaah's Tomb, 6 Km from the Taj, was built by Empress Noor Jahan, in memory of her father Mirza Ghias Beg in 1622-1625 A.D. This ornate tomb is considered a precursor of the Taj Mahal.

Panch Mahal is airy five-storeyed pavilion. Each floor over here is smaller than the one below, and it rises to a single domed kiosk on top supported by four columns providing a magnificent view of the city and its environs.

 | The mausoleum of Emperor Akbar represents his philosophy and secular outlook, combining the best of Hindu and Muslim architectures in a superlative fusion. Completed in 1613 A.D., It is one of the well-preserved monuments.

This gate can be approached from the outside by a 13 mt. flight of steps which adds to its grandeur. The gate was erected in the year A.H. 1010 (A.D. 1602) to commemorate Akbar's conquest of Deccan. It is the highest and the grandest gateway in India and ranks among the biggest in the world.
